Squadron Leader R. C. Tear
Rushden Echo, Friday 5th January 1962, transcribed by Kay Collins

Rushden MBE
The telegram was short, characteristic and to the point: "Have won MBE in New Year prize draw," It was a thrilling moment for Mrs. H. Tear, of 46 Upper Queen Street, Rushden — for the telegram was from her son, Squadron Leader R. C. Tear, of the RAF.

The award, Mrs, Tear believes, was made for her son's services while he was a lecturer at RAF College, Henlow. He moved from Henlow two weeks before Christmas, to the V-bomber base at Mar ham, near King's Lynn. He had been at Henley for four years. Squadron Leader Tear is 30.
