Rushden Echo, Friday 5th January 1962, transcribed by Kay Collins
Rushden MBE The telegram was short, characteristic and to the point: "Have won MBE in New Year prize draw," It was a thrilling moment for Mrs. H. Tear, of 46 Upper Queen Street, Rushden for the telegram was from her son, Squadron Leader R. C. Tear, of the RAF.
The award, Mrs, Tear believes, was made for her son's services while he was a lecturer at RAF College, Henlow. He moved from Henlow two weeks before Christmas, to the V-bomber base at Mar ham, near King's Lynn. He had been at Henley for four years. Squadron Leader Tear is 30.
