The marriage took place at the Park-road Baptist Church on Monday of Miss Alice Mary Colson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Colson, of 196, Wellingborough-road, to Mr. Frank Stringer, only son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Stringer, of 110, Wellingborough-road.  The Rev. H. J. Horn officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly gowned in white silk, with bridal veil and wreath of orange blossom.  She carried a magnificent shower bouquet of roses, orchids and chrysanthemums, the gift of the bridegroom.  She was attended by two bridesmaids – Miss Elsie Drage, of Bozeat (friend of the bride) and Miss Winnie Stringer (sister of the bridegroom).  Both were tastefully attired in white ninon and black picture hats.  They carried bouquets of white roses and chrysanthemums, the gifts of the bridegroom.  The best man was Mr. Ray Stringer, of London (cousin of the bridegroom).

Knight – Colson

Yesterday the marriage was solemnised at the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, of Miss Mabel Gladys Colson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Colson, 49, Moor-road, Rushden, and Mr. Frank Knight, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Knight, of Hilly Farm, Bedford-road, Rushden.

The bride was given away by her father, and was fashionably gowned in white crepe de chine with bridal veil and wreath of orange blossom.  She carried a magnificent bouquet of white chrysanthemums, lilium longiflorum, white carnations, and asparagus sprengard, the gift of the bridegroom.  There were three bridesmaids in attendance – Misses E. Lack (niece of the bride), D. Johnson, of Olney (cousin of the bride), and A. Colson (cousin of the bride).  All were charmingly gowned in pale pink crepe de chine, the two elder bridesmaids wearing white felt hats and the younger one a pink hat.  They carried beautiful bouquets of white chrysanthemums, carnations and lilies, the gifts of the bridegroom.  Mr. Harry Colson (cousin of the bride) discharged the duties of best man.  As the guests were assembling in church Mr. J. Lindsay Clipson, A.R.C.O., played appropriate music and as the newly wedded pair left the building he rendered the Wedding March.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the schoolroom, 55 Moor-road, Rushden, and later Mr. and Mrs. Knight left Rushden by the 2.44p.m. train for Brighton, where the honeymoon is being spent.  The bride’s travelling costume was of Wedgewood blue with nigger brown hat.

The bride has been a teacher at Alfred-street schools, Rushden for 14 years, and for a number of years the bridegroom has been a member of the choir at Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden.

The wedding gifts, which were numerous and costly, included a silver cake basket from the teachers and scholars of Alfred-street schools, and a bread board and knife from the lady farm workers at Hilly Farm, Rushden.
