Spriggs - Freeman

A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday last, the contracting parties being Miss Lizzie Freeman, the youngest daughter of Mrs. Freeman, of 4 Addington-road Terrace, Irthlingborough, and Mr. Harry Spriggs, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Spriggs, of Higham-road, Rushden. The bride was very prettily attired in a dress of silver grey poplin, and wore a bridal veil kindly lent by Mrs. Spriggs (the bridegroom’s mother) and a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies and ferns, and white silk ribbon streamers, the gift of the bridegroom. She was given away by her brother, Mr. Jacob Freeman, of Irthlingborough, and was attended by two bridesmaids – Miss Annie Tyler (sister of the bride) and Mrs. Nellie Houghton (friend of the bride). The former was dressed in a pale blue lawn dress, and wore a hat to match. Mrs. Houghton wore a navy blue costume and a wedgewood blue hat. Mr. Z. Spriggs was best man. A reception was held at the bridegroom’s home, about 30 or 40 guests assembling. The presents were pretty and numerous and very useful ones, one being from the firm Messrs. Robinson Bros. – a very pretty china tea service and a Worcester shading plant pot – Miss Freeman having been a forewoman in the closing department for some time past.
