On leave for the week-end from the Royal Engineers, L/Cpl Douglas Frank Stanley Smith, only son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Smith, of 117, Glassbrook Road, Rushden, celebrated his 21st birthday with family and friends last Saturday. He was formerly employed as a clerk by the British United Shoe Machinery Co., was a member of St. Peter's Church choir and played football for Rushden Crusaders.
