Rushden Echo, 13th April 1917, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Smart - Scrimshaw

The marriage took place at the Parish Church on Monday of Miss Rose Scrimshaw, only daughter of Mr. G. Scrimshaw, of 35, Midland-road, to Mr. Jim Smart, second son of Mr. G. Smart, of 62, Harborough-road.  The Rev. T. James officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed in cream satin, trimmed with silk insertion, and wore a veil and orange blossom.  She carried a choice bouquet.  There were three bridesmaids, Miss Edie Houghton and Miss Ethel Bird, who wore cream silk eolienne pinafore dresses, with ninon blouses, and very pretty hats, and little Miss Edie Mole, attired in a pale blue dress with hat to match, and a lovely basket of flowers.  Miss Bird wore a gold brooch, Miss Houghton a pendant, and Miss Mole a gold bangle, all the gift of the bridegroom, who also gave the flowers.  Mr. Horace Smart, brother of the bridegroom, acted a best man.  A reception was held at the bride’s home.  Many handsome presents were received.
