Sherwood - Watts

Rushden Teacher’s Wedding

The wedding took place at the Baptist Chapel, Wollaston, on Friday, of Mr. William A. E. Sherwood, the only son of Mr. Sherwood, Newton-road, Wollaston, and Miss Margaret Irene Watts, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Watts, East Field House, Wollaston.  The bridegroom, who is now in the Army, was before joining up, assistant schoolmaster at Rushden North End School, organist at the Wollaston Baptist Chapel, and a teacher in the Sunday school.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. A. Weeks, of Chesham, and the Rev. C H. Higgs.  The bride was in a dress of ivory crepe de chine, wore a hand-embroidered veil and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of roses and chrysanthemums.  She was given away by her father, and attended by Miss Alice Watts, her sister, and Miss Mabel Neale, cousin of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids.  Mr. Leslie Sabey, of Northampton, was the best man.  The presents included a case of silver tea knives from the Rushden North End School teachers, and a salad bowl and servers from the bridegroom’s class.
