Rushden Echo & Argus, 3rd January 1958, transcribed by Kay Collins
They’ve been married 68 years

For one Rushden couple, Christmas Day had an added significance not achieved by many people – it was their 68th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Walter Seamarks (87), and his wife (86), have lived at 103 Cromwell Road almost since they got married in 1889.

Mr. Seamarks is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seamarks, Rectory Road, Rushden. He has two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Guyer (Kettering) and Mrs. Eva Mitchell (Stanwick), and one brother, Fred (Long Buckby). The total age of the four is over 300 years.

He worked in the boot and shoe industry and has always been a keen Salvationist, at one time founding a junior Salvation Army band in the town.

Mrs. Seamarks was formerly Miss Elizah York, of Doddington.

They have three sons, William (Rushden), Arthur (Eastbourne), and Walter (Rushden).
