The Rushden Echo, 27th June, 1913, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Marriage of Mr. A. H. Sartoris, J.P.

and Miss Clara Eva Bridges

Brilliant Function at Barton Seagrave
The wedding of Mr. Arthur Hugh Sartoris, J.P., of Weekley, to Miss Clara Eva Bridges, eldest daughter of the Rev. T. L. C. Bridges, Rector of Barton Seagrave, and the late Mrs. Bridges, formerly of Warkton, took place at the Parish Church, Barton Seagrave, on Wednesday. The edifice was charmingly decorated with flowers. The service was performed by Canon Howard (Vicar of Weekley), assisted by the Rev. F. Davenport (Vicar of St. Martin’s, Stamford).

The bridegroom is the only son of the late Mr. Herbert Sartoris, J.P., and Mrs. Sartoris, of Weekley, and a grandson of the late Mr. F. U. Sartoris, J.P, and Mrs. Sartoris, of Rushden Hall, and is extremely popular throughout a very wide area. Mr. Sartoris is president of the Rushden Conservative Association and takes a prominent interest in the County Cricket Club, of which he was a vice-president and a frequent member of the Club and Ground teams. Mr. Sartoris, an adept with the rod and gun, formerly held a commission in the Northants Regiment and served with the 3rd Battalion in the South African War.

The bride, who formerly resided with her parents at Warkton Rectory and more recently at Barton Seagrave, is held in the highest esteem by a wide circle of friends.

The service, which took place at 2.15, was fully choral, and Mr. A. Stokes, at the organ, rendered wedding marches from Lohengrin and Mendelssohn’s familiar composition.

The bride was given away by her father (Rev. T. L. C. Bridges), but was unaccompanied by bridesmaids owing to a recent bereavement in the bridegroom’s family. The duties of best man were discharged by Mr. F. P. Nathan, of Manchester, on old friend of the bridegroom.
