The wedding took place on Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church, Higham Ferrers, the Rev J B Goodridge officiating, of Miss Clarice Nellie tester, youngest daughter of Mrs Tester of 55, High-street, Higham Ferrers, and the late Mr Tester, and Mr Wilfred James Rowney, younger son of Mr and Mrs J Rowney, of Denmark-road, Rushden. The Communion table had been decorated with daffodils. Given away by her brother, Mr A J Tester, the bride was daintily attired in white crepe-de-chine, with a bridal veil and orange-blossom, and carried a bouquet of red carnation (the gift of the bridegroom). Miss Edith Tester (sister of the bride) and Miss Lily Rowney (sister of the bridegroom) were the bridesmaids, the former being attired in blue georgette with lace overlay, and the latter in sating gabardine, both wearing hats to match. They carried bouquets of pink tulips, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Frank Dickens, of Rushden, a brother-in-law of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. A reception was subsequently held at the home of the bride. The motors were supplied by Mr F Parker. Amongst the many handsome and useful gifts received by the happy couple were one from the Wesleyan Boy Reserves to the bride and one from the bridegroom's old Sunday school teacher at the Park-road Wesleyan Church.
The happy couple leave on Saturday (to-morrow) for Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where for the past two years the bridegroom has been. Our representative had a short chat with Mr Rowney and asked him his opinion of Canada. A good country, was the reply, but you have got to work hard there. Mr Rowney said that in Canada one had to be ready to be kicked down, get up again, and be ready to expect the same. He gave it as his opinion that to get on one had to work hard and take knocks.
