Evening Telegraph, 9th Sept. 1971, transcribed by Kay Collins

A Wymington girl who is this term taking up a post to teach English at the John o’Gaunt School at Hungerford in Berkshire, has found an unexpected link there with her home village. She is Miss Margaret Reynolds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Reynolds, of 10 Church Lane, Wymington.

Margaret, who gained an honours degree in English and Education at Southampton University last term, will be teaching English at her new school. A few months ago, the “Evening Telegraph” reported that a brass of Sir Thomas Bromflete in Wymington Church had been damaged when intruders tried to remove it from the floor.

Margaret has discovered that Sir Thomas, who was lord of the manor of Wymington, became cup bearer to John o’Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, nearly six hundred years ago.

In 2016 Margaret did a display for the H E Bates Discussion group.
