Mr. John Arthur Wright

The death took place on Friday last, at 10, Queen-street, after a long illness, of Mr. John Arthur Wright, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wright.  The deceased, who was 20 years of age, joined the Royal Naval Air Service about eighteen months ago, and was then put on the reserve.  He received his calling-up papers last October but was unable to fulfil his obligations owing to his illness.  He was a member of the Rushden Military Band, playing the clarionette.  Up to the time of his illness he was employed by his father in his business as cabinet maker.  The funeral took place on Tuesday at the cemetery, the Rev. C. J. Keeler officiating.  The coffin, of polished elm with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-

JOHN ARTHUR WRIGHT
Died January 25th, 1918
Aged 20 years.

The mourners comprised Mr. and Mrs. John Wright (father and mother), Miss Lilian Wright (sister) and Mr. Alfred Wright (uncle), Mrs. Bean (aunt) and Mrs. Carlin (aunt).  A number of beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave.
