The Funeral

Much sympathy is felt with the family and and other relatives of the late Mr. Walter Baines Woodward, who died on Friday last at his residence in Moor-road, Rushden, at the age of 65. Mr. Woodward had been ill for five weeks,, and was the victim of a seizsure.

A son of the late Mr. J. W. B. Woodward, and born at Irchester, Mr. W. J. Woodward carried on the business of the father in Church-street, Rushden, as plumber and house decorator for most of his life. He had lived in the town practically 50 years. Mr. Woodward was at one time a member of the Rushden Master Builders' Association. For many years he was a member of the Rushden Volunteer Fire Brigade. He was a member of the Rushden Conservative Club up to a year or two ago. Besides the widow, one son and two daughters are left, and there are also two brothers bereaved.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at St. Peter's Church and the cemetery, the Rev. P. Barwell Spriggs, M.A. (Vicar), officiating. The family mourners were Mrs. G. Fountain (daughter), Mr. G. Woodward (son), Mrs. W. W. Smith, of Wymington (sister), Mr. F. C. Woodward (brother), Mr. and Mrs. G. Woodward (brother and sister-in-law), Mr. G. C. N. Fountain (son-in-law), Mrs. Cox, Mr. W. Riddiford (cousins). Mr. and Mrs. L. Cunnington, Mr. and Mrs. J. I Smith (nephews and neices)_, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bailey, Capt. J. Marshall Bailey, M.C., and Mr. H. Attley (friends). The Rushden Fire Brigade was represented by Capt. B. F. Knight and Fireman Whiting. Mr. T. Swindall represented the Rushden Master Builders' Association, and Mr. A. T. Nichols was present on behalf of the master plumbers of the town. Mr. Baxter, Mr. C. W. Barker and other friends also attended. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs.  T.  Swindall and Sons.
