Rushden Echo and Argus, Friday 4th May 1934, transcribed by Susan Manton
Mr. Charles William Wing

The death of Mr. Charles William Wing, a Rushden Solicitor, occurred on Sunday at his residence, “Rowley Close”, Wellingborough Road, Rushden.

Mr. Wing was 53 and hailed from Bury St, Edmunds. He joined the staff of Messrs. Simpson and Mason, solicitors, at their Rushden office in 1896, was admitted a solicitor some ten years later and became a partner in the firm in 1918. The partnership was dissolved last year and Mr. Wing then opened a separate practice in High Street.

Keen on sport and fond of country life, Mr. Wing was for some time secretary of the Rushden and District Golf Club. His chief public appointment was, since 1914, as secretary to the Rushden Old Age Pensions Committee.

The deceased gentleman leaves a widow, but there were no children.

The funeral took place by cremation at Leicester on Wednesday. The Rev. Travers Stoney, Rector of Rushden, conducted the service at Leicester Crematorium, and those attending were Mrs. Wing (widow), Mr. and Mrs. Webb, Uttoxeter (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Arthur Wing, Hove (brother), Miss B. Wing and Miss Scace, Mr and Mrs. Harry Sargent and Mr. Peter Wilson of Kettering.

There was no mourning and no flowers sent.
