Rushden Echo, 15th July 1927, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr William White

Obituary—The death occurred on Monday, at his home, 26 Irchester-road, of Mr William White, aged 55, after an illness from an internal growth which had necessitated his keeping to his bed for the previous seven weeks. Mr White was born at Birmingham, but his father was a native of Yelden and for many years lived in Rushden, being a well-known greengrocer. Mr W White had lived in Rushden for a good many years. He identified himself with the Zion Baptist cause, being a faithful worker at the chapel. He was also a very willing worker at the Church Army Social centre during the time the hut was the Irchester-Wellingborough roads corner. Though not an active sportsman, he delighted in rendering many services for young fellows of the town who were playing members of football teams. He was a member of Rushden District Football League committee and used to do good work behind the scenes for the Rushden Adult School F.C. As long as he was able to work he was employed in latter years as a clicker at Messrs Nurrish and Pallett’s factory. Deceased leaves, besides the widow, one son and one daughter. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the service being conducted by Mr Gascoign, of Wellingborough. Messrs Whittington and Tomlin carried out the funeral arrangements.
