Mr. H. J. Wheeler, of Kingswood

The death took place on Wednesday of last week at the Bristol Royal Infirmary of Mr. Henry John Wheeler, aged 72 years, eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wheeler, of Church Street, Rushden. He had been a sidesman at St. Michael’s Church, Two mile High for many years and was for 40 years treasurer of the Men’s Club. He was also secretary of the local branch of the National Deposit Friendly Society, and had been a member of the district committee and the divisional committee. He was for 25 years a foreman of the firm Messrs. A. Lovell and Co. boot manufacturers, Kingswood.

Affectionate tributes to the life and work of Mr. Wheeler were paid by the Rev. W. N. Booker and the Rev. W. F. Hatherly-Jones, of St. Michael’s Church, Two Mile High, at the funeral on Saturday.

Many members of the Men’s Club attended the funeral service, which was conducted by the Rev. Booker and the Rev. Hatherly-Jones. The interment took place in St. Michael’s graveyard.

The principal mourners were the widow, Mrs. S. B. Read (daughter), Mr. T. Wheeler, Rushden (brother), Mrs. H. Addison, Rushden (sister) Mrs. L. Bull (sister), Mrs. F. Shortland, Rushden (sister) Mr. S. B. Read (Son-in-law) Mrs. E. Child (niece), Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Jones and Mr. Mervyn Jotcham.
