Mr. William West

Funeral of an old Forester—The remains of Mr. William West, a former resident and native of Northampton, but during recent years connected with the firm of West and Childs, shoe manufacturers, of Rushden, were interred in the Northampton Cemetery on Monday afternoon. The body was brought from Rushden to Northampton on Monday morning, the family mourners meeting at the residence of Mr. G. J. Battle, Abington-avenue (son-in-law). The deceased, who was 64 years of age, had been a member of the Court Pride of Spratton, A.O.F., for over 45 years, and six of the oldest members of this Court, including the Secretary (Mr. W. Gandy), Treasurer (Mr. D. Stanton, J.P.), and one of the Trustees (Mr. T. P. Heggs), carried him to the grave. He was also an old member of College-street Chapel, and a very impressive service was conducted by the Rev. J. T. Brown. The family mourners, in addition to the widow, included: Mr. T. W. West (son), Mrs. Partridge (daughter), Mrs. G. Battle (daughter), Mr. H. Roberts, Mr. Henry Wooding, and Mr. David Collier (brothers-in-law), Mr. G. Partridge, Mr. G. J. Battle (sons-in-law), Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Andrews (sisters-in-law), Mr. G. Wooding (nephew), and Miss Wooding (niece). In addition to the wreaths from the members of the family, was one from Mr. and Mrs. Amos Childs and family (Rushden), and another from the Rushden employees of Messrs. West and Childs. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. Burgess, of Grafton-street.
