Mrs E. West, Rushden

Mrs Elizabeth West, of Rushden, widow of the late Mr C. West, died on Tuesday July 18th, after 18 months' illness, at the age of 87 years.

Mrs West lived at "North Cottage," North-street. She was a native of Marske-by-Sea, Yorkshire, and had lived in Rushden for 50 years. Four daughters, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren are bereaved.

The funeral took place on Saturday (which would have been Mrs West's 88th birthday). The Rev. E Hirst (Vicar of St Peter's) conducted the service in the cemetery chapel, and mourners were: Mrs M Knight (daughter), Mr C Kemp (son-in-law), Miss E. Harriman and Mrs A Denton (daughters), Mrs Houghton and Mrs Qumcey (grand-daughters), Mr and Mrs E Cross (grandson and granddaughter) Mr C Knight and Mr R Denton, (grandsons), Mrs Fields and Mr John Greaves (niece and nephew).

Mrs C Kemp (daughter) was unable to attend.

Wreaths were inscribed: Yet a little while until the day breaks and shadows flee, Clara and Eustace. With fondest love to dear Mother from Mary Ethel and Amy: In loving memory of our dear Grandma from Ella. Ernie and Reg: With deepest sympathy from grand children and great-grandchildren. In remembrance of Aunt Lizzie from Lizzie Jack Gladys and Reg. A token of respect from the residents of North-street.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. F Bayes.
