Mr. Sydney Thomas Ward

The death took place on Saturday last, at the age of 27 years, of Mr. Sydney Thomas Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ward, of Queen-street, Rushden. Deceased who was a victim of consumption, had been ill for about four years. He was a member of the Independent Wesleyan Church, and some years ago was a teacher in the Sunday school. Prior to his illness he was a very active member of the Rushden Ambulance Division, and attended the classes very regularly.  At their meeting on Tuesday the members of the Ambulance Division passed a vote of sympathy with the parents of the deceased.

The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Cemetery, the Rev. S. J. Smith, of Wellingborough, officiating. The mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. Ward (father and mother), Mr. John Ward and Miss Nellie Ward (brother and sister), Mr. and Mrs. Scholes (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. and Mrs. Adams (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Houghton and Mrs. John Ward (uncle and sister-in-law).  The members of the Ambulance Division were represented at the graveside by Mr. H. Page (secretary). Corpl. Bert Ward (brother), an escort of prisoners of war, was unable to obtain leave to attend the funeral.
