Collapsed In Factory
Sudden Death of Rushden C.W.S. Supervisor

Complaining of not feeling well on arriving at the C.W.S. boot factory, Rushden, on Monday morning, Mr Caleb Ward, supervisor of the making and preparation department, was later found dying in his office. Dr Lean was summoned, but on arrival found that Mr Ward had already passed away.

Death occurred at about 8.15a.m., and the body was afterwards conveyed to the home, “Lindenlea,” Wymington-road.

Mr Ward was 59 years of age and came to Rushden from Northampton about 11 years ago, being employed by the C.W.S. for ten years. A wife and one daughter, who resides in Scotland, are bereaved.

The death was reported to the East Northants Coroner by P.C. Tebbey, and it was found that an inquest would not be necessary.

Funeral

The funeral of Mr Caleb Ward, of “Lindenlea”, Wymington-road, Rushden, a supervisor at the C.W.S. boot factory, took place on Thursday afternoon, February 24th, the rector (Rev E A Green) conducting the service at the home.

Mourners attending the cemetery were: Mr George Ward, Worcester (brother), Mr J Young, Arbroath, Scotland (son-in-law), Mr Fred Andrews, Mr Fred Wright, Northampton (brothers-in-law), Mr Charles Saunders, Mr C Newton, Mr S Robinson, Mr W Clifton, Mr F Clifton, Mr W Steele, Mr Strudwick, Mr R Brains, Rugby, and Mr F Newell (friends).

Wreaths were received from two departments and the clerical staff of the C.W.S. Boot Works.

Messrs T Swindall and Sons were the undertakers.
