Rushden Echo, 16th August 1918
Mrs. Elizabeth Underwood

Obituary – The death took place on Sunday morning, of Mrs. Elizabeth Underwood, wife of Mr. Enos Underwood, of 36, Essex-road, Rushden.  The deceased lady, who was 70 years of age, was a regular attendant at the Park-road Baptist Church.  In the earlier days of the war an alarm of a Zeppelin raid was given one Sunday night, and the services at the various places of worship were brought to an early close.  Mrs. Underwood attended the Baptist Church that night and sustained so great a shock that she never really got over it.  The funeral took place on Wednesday.  On account of the ill-health of Mr. Underwood, the service was held at the house, the Rev. H. Shaw officiating.  The mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Darlow (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. A. Underwood, Mr. Eli Underwood, Mrs. C. Neal (niece), Mr. and Mrs. A. Payne (nephew and niece), Mr. and Mrs. C. West, of Higham Ferrers (friends).

Mr. Underwood and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Darlow wish to return their thanks for the kind expressions of sympathy with them in their sad bereavement.
