Mrs. Lydia Tomlin

Death of An Old Resident—The death took place on Monday in the early morning of Mrs. Tomlin, aged 88 years, of Washbrook-road, Rushden. The deceased lady, who was the widow of the late Mr. Daniel Tomlin (who died 27 years ago), was seized with a stroke on the previous Wednesday, death being due to natural causes (old age). She leaves three sons, four daughters and 38 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The late Mr. Daniel Tomlin, her husband, was well-known in Rushden as a participator in work for the temperance cause and the Liberal Association, and as an Independent Wesleyan. The funeral took place yesterday in the presence of a body of sympathisers. After conducting a service in the cemetery chapel, the Rev. C. J. Keeler officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners were as follow:- Mr. John Tomlin and Mrs. Causebrook, of Berkhampstead (son and daughter), Mr. C. Tomlin and Mrs. J. Bailey (son and daughter), Mr. H. Tomlin and Mrs. Bunting (son and daughter), Pte. T. Mason (representing Mrs. Rice, a daughter in Canada), Mrs. J. Tomlin, Mr. C. Tomlin, and Mrs. H. Tomlin (daughters-in-law), and several of the grandchildren. There were a number of wreaths. The coffin, of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-

LYDIA TOMLIN.
Born March 26th 1829.
Died March 19th 1917.

Mr. Whittington conducted the funeral. The family of the late Mrs. Tomlin wish to express their grateful thanks for the many token of sympathy in their bereavement.
