Rushden Echo, 1st November 1918
Mr. Cecil G. Tew

SUDDEN BEREAVEMENT – We sincerely regret to record the death, which took place yesterday, of Mr. Cecil G. Tew, husband of Mrs. Tew, of Moor-road.  The deceased was at work up to Saturday night as usual, when he contracted influenza, which subsequently developed into pneumonia, and although everything possible was done for him by his medical attendant (Dr. Greenfield) and the district nurse, the end came suddenly yesterday about 9.30 a.m.  The late Mr. Tew was well known in Rushden, having been in the employ of the Rushden Industrial Co-operative Society for the greater part of his business career.  For many years he has had charge of various of the grocery branches of the Society.  On local concert platforms he was well known as a humourist, and was always ready and willing to assist any local worthy causes in this capacity.  He leaves a widow and one child, with whom much sympathy is felt in their sudden bereavement.
