The Late Mr Charles Tassell – Impressive Funeral –Tributes of Respect
The interment of the late Mr Charles Tassell, whose death we reported last week, took place on Saturday at the cemetery, Rushden, the Rev P E Robson (Rector) officiating. The mourners were: Mr H Tassell (son); Mrs A Warner (daughter); Mr Frank Tassell and Mr J Tassell (sons); Mrs A Westley (daughter), of Daventry; Mrs H Tassell (daughter-in-law); Mrs F Tassell and Mrs J Tassell (daughters-in-law); Miss Doris Tassell and Miss Francie Warner (grandchildren); and Mr Harry Knight, of Kettering, Mr L Wilson and Mr W J Tassell (nephews). Mr and Mrs Fred Tassell, of Torquay, were unable to attend.

Representing the former employers and fellow-workers of the deceased, there were also present at the cemetery Mr c Claridge and Messrs C Robinson, W Clarke, E Chettle, A Banks, and T Surridge. Others present included Mesdames E Hollis, G Chettle, H Chettle, L Wilson, and G Bass and Mr W Hanger. Mr Arthur Sanders carried out the funeral arrangements.

Wreaths placed on the grave bore the following inscriptions: In loving memory of dear Dad, from his sorrowing wife and daughter Annie, and granddaughter Francie; “His end was peace.” From his loving son Harry, Liz, Doris, and Fred; “Rest in peace.” In loving memory of our dear Father, from Frank, Min, and Frankie; “Peace, perfect peace.” In every loving memory of a dear Father, from John, Beat, Sonny, and Kathleen; “Safe at rest.” In loving memory of our dear Father, from Fred and Gracie, Torquay; “Though lost to sight, To memory ever dear.” In loving memory of dear Dad, from Lizzie, Arthur, and little Joan; “At rest.” From his loving grandchildren Marjorie and Dennis, Torquay. In loving memory of Uncle Charlie, from sister Susan, Will and Emmie; “Peace, perfect peace.” In remembrance, from his nephews and niece, George, Henry, and Sarah. In loving memory of dear Uncle, from his nieces Fanny, Nellie and Minnie; “Peace, perfect peace.” With deep sympathy for the bereaved and a token of sincere esteem and regard of a life-long friend, from C Claridge. With deepest sympathy from members of the Rushden Town Band Club. With deepest sympathy from Mr and Mrs G H Ward, Higham Ferrers. With sincere regret and many happy memories of an old friend, from all at Bencroft Grange.

Mrs C Tassell and family desire to offer their heartfelt thanks to all the neighbours and many kind friends who have shown sympathy with them during the long illness of the late Mr Tassell and since the heavy bereavement. Will friends please accept this acknowledgement, as it is impossible to thank each one individually.
