Former urban councillor dies

Senior partner in T. Swindall and Sons, builders and coal merchants, Mr. Thomas James Swindall, of 49, Moor Road, Rushden, was admitted to Kettering General Hospital on Monday and died at 1a.m. on Tuesday, aged 66 he had been unwell for the last few months.

Mr. Swindall was the eldest son of the late Mr. Tom Swindall, a former chairman of Rushden Urban Council, and was himself a member of the council from 1937 to 1946. He was a Rotarian, a director of the Waverley Hotel, and at one time a superintendent of the Independent Wesleyan Sunday School.

A bachelor, he leaves two brothers, Messrs. Herbert and Alec Swindall.

The funeral takes place at Rushden tomorrow.
