We regret to record the death, which took place somewhat suddenly on Monday, of Mr. Thomas Spavins, Florist, of Harborough-road, Rushden. The deceased was 68 years of age.

Mr. Spavins had a stroke some time ago, and from this seizure he partially recovered. On Monday last, at about 5 p.m. he had a second stroke, from which he never rallied, passing away peacefully at about 9 p.m. in the arms of his son, Mr. James Spavins.

The deceased, for some years, had been a sidesman at the Parish Church. By trade a gardener, he started in business for himself as a florist, etc., about 18 years ago, his nurseries being situated in Harborough-road. He leaves a widow, four sons, and two daughters. Three of the sons are in America, and the other (Mr. James Spavins) is the respected treasurer of the Rushden Congregational Church.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, a service being held at the Parish Church, and the interment taking place in the cemetery. Messrs. Clark and Sanders were the funeral directors, their duties being carried out very efficiently.

The mourners were Mrs. T. Spavins (widow), Mr. J. Spavins (son), Mr. and Mrs. Sayer (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. Jones (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. G. Spavins and Mrs. Barcock (brother and sister), Mr. William Spavins and Mrs. Sale (brother and sister), Mr. Walter Spavins and Mrs. Bartram (brother and sister), Mr. and Mrs. H. Spavins (brother and sister-in-law), Master Leonard and Miss Hilda Sayer (grandchildren), Mrs. Litchfield and Miss Evelyn Sayer (niece and granddaughter), Mrs. York and Master Thomas York (grandson).
