Mr. Lewis Peters Smith

The funeral of Mr. Lewis Peters Smith, of Portland-road, Rushden, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 55 years, took place yesterday in the cemetery at Rushden. The funeral was conducted by Mr. G. Boyden, of Kettering, an old friend of the deceased’s. The coffin was of unpolished elm with brass fittings and bore the inscription:

LEWIS PETERS SMITH
Died June 11th, 1916
Aged 55 years.

The mourners comprised Mrs. Smith (widow) and Pte. Charles Smith, 3rd Northants (son), Mr. G. S. North (son-in-law) and Miss A. Smith (daughter), Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. and Mrs. H. Hawkins, of Northampton (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. and Mrs. Tyrell (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs. Copson, of Northampton (aunt) and Miss Neal (friend), Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Haseldine (friends).

Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin were the undertakers.
