Rushden Echo, 15th March 1918, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mrs. Skinner

Death of Musician’s Widow—We record with regret the death, which took place on Wednesday, of Mrs. Skinner, widow of the late Mr. William Skinner, of Queen-street. The deceased, who was a native of Chelveston, would have been 85 years of age had she lived another ten days. She leaves two sons (Mr. J. King Skinner, of Rushden and Mr George W. Skinner, of London), and three daughters (Mrs. W. Langford, of North-street, Rushden, Mrs. G. Mooring, of London, and Mrs. Eli Knight, of Northampton).

The late Mr. William Skinner was a noted musician, band conductor, and choir-master. In his early days he lived at Raunds, and for a long period he was one of Rushden’s foremost music-lovers. He died about three years ago. Before her husband’s death Mrs. Skinner had a nasty fall off a chair and she injured her head. Since that time she had been in failing health, though she had only kept her bed for three days before she died. The late Mrs. Skinner, who was of a retiring disposition, won the esteem of all who came into contact with her.
