Rushden Echo, 23rd November 1917, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Mr. John Sharp

OCTAGENARIAN’S DEMISE – The death took place on Wednesday at 11, Co-operative-row, of Mr. John Sharp, at the advanced age of 86 years.  His widow, who herself is 83 years of age, survives him, and they had been married 63 years.  One daughter, Mrs. Tunn, with whom Mr. and Mrs. Sharp resided, is also left to mourn her loss.  The late Mr. Sharp, who was a native of Emberton, only came to Rushden to reside with his daughter about four months ago.  From the age of five years up to 70 he had been in practically constant work, the greater part of the time being put in on Mr. Townsend’s farm at Emberton.  For the past few years, the late Mr. Sharp had been rather feeble, and death was due entirely to senile decay.  The funeral will take place to-morrow at Rushden cemetery.
