The Rushden Echo, 17th December 1909, transcribed by Kay Collins
Miss Ann Sargent

The Funeral took place at the Cemetery yesterday (Thursday) of Miss Ann Sargent, of Rectory-road, Rushden, who died on Tuesday at about 7.30p.m. from heart failure. The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. John Sargent, who was one of the pioneers of the temperance movement in Rushden 50 or 60 years ago.

The deceased lady herself, whose wool shop was one of the oldest established businesses in Rushden, was herself an active worker in the cause of temperance, and by her death one of the old families of Rushden sustains bereavement. The Rev. C. J. Keeler, pastor of the Independent Wesleyan Church, officiated at the funeral yesterday, and the mourners included Mr. James Sargent and Mr. John Sargent (brothers of the deceased), Mr. and Mrs. Brookes, Miss May Brookes, Mrs. Harris, and others.
