Mrs. Mary Annie Sanders
Postwoman in First World War, Dies

THE funeral took place at Irthlingborough on Thursday week of Mrs. Mary Annie Sanders, late of 122, Wellingborough Road, Rushden, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Bradshaw, of 91, High Street West, Irthlingborough, on Boxing Day, aged 81.

Mrs. Sanders had been a member of St. Mary’s Church Mothers’ Union (Rushden) for many years, and a member of the Rushden branch of the British Legion.

During the First World War she took over the duties of postwoman for about six years.

A service at Irthlingborough Parish Church was conducted by the Rev. L. V. Rogers and the mourners were Mr. and Mrs. G. Bradshaw and Mr. and Mrs. H. Rogers (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. Phillip Rogers (grandson), Miss D. Espin, Mrs. E. Ingyon, Mrs. J. West and Mrs. G. Westley (nieces), Mr. C. Pendered (cousin).
