Mrs Helen Sanders
Rushden Resident’s Death

The Late Mrs Thomas Sanders – The Funeral

The death occurred on Friday last at 153, High-street, Rushden, of Mrs Helen Sanders, aged 75, widow of the late Mr Thomas Sanders who was senior partner of the firm Sanders and Sanders (Mr W B Sanders, brother, being the other partner). Founded nearly 45 years ago, the firm was then Sanders, Perkins, and Sanders. Mr Perkins later on left the brothers Sanders and started as a manufacturer on his own account in the boot factory in North-street, Rushden, built for him by his father. About ten years after the original firm started, Mr Thomas Sanders occupied the house 153, High-street, as soon as it was built, and the deceased lady spent the remainder of her days there.

Mrs Sanders, a daughter of the late Mr Jesse Cox, of Higham Ferrers, had long been associated with the Succoth Baptist cause at Rushden. She continued to be a devoted member up to the time of her death, though she had been unable to attend during the past few months owing to injuries from a fall. There were no children of the marriage, her relatives and friends looking after her.

The funeral took place on Monday, Pastor H Newton, of Wellingborough Tabernacle, officiating. The mourners were Mr and Mrs W B Sanders (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr J W Radburne, Mrs J Bennett, Mr Walter Lack, Mrs F White, Mr Herbert lack, Mrs A Desborough (nephews and nieces), Mrs J Newell, of Rushden (cousin), Mrs Harris, of Wellingborough, and Mrs Manning, of Kettering (friends). Others present representing the Succoth Baptists were Mr Z Newell, Mrs E Brown, Mr J Bennett, Miss K Cox, Mrs Murdin, etc. Mrs E L Brightwell and Miss Lack also attended.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr Arthur Sanders. Deceased was interred in the double-bricked grave, where her husband was buried.
