Rushden Echo, 19th April 1918
Mr Charles Thomas Elliott Sanders

We regret to record the death which took place yesterday evening at 132 Wellingborough-road, after a long and painful illness borne with remarkable patience, of Mr. Charles Thomas Elliott Sanders, at the age of 59 years. The late Mr. Sanders leaves a widow, two sons, and two daughters to mourn their loss, and both of the sons are serving their country, one being in France and other in Italy. For many years the late Mr. Sanders had taken a keen and active interest in the work of St. Peter’s Church, having been a sidesman ever since the new church was built. It was only last week that his friends at the church held a benefit whist drive for him, as reported in last week’s “Rushden Echo.” A native of Raunds, he had resided in Rushden for upwards of 30 years, and for a long period was in the employ of Mr. T. Swindall. The funeral will take place on Monday next at the cemetery, and the first potion of the service will be at St. Peter’s Church at 2.30p.m.
