Mrs. H. Rooksby – Sudden Death
Impressive Funeral at Rushden

Much sympathy has been expressed with Mr. Henry Rooksby, of 81 Midland-road, Rushden, in the sudden death of his wife, Mrs. Ellen Matilda Rooksby, aged 50, which occurred yesterday week. Mrs. Rooksby had been under the doctor’s care for the past three years with severe pains in her head, but had managed her household duties. During the past few weeks deceased had been a great deal worse, at times the pains being almost unbearable. She was out of doors only the day before her death, which came unexpectedly after an unusually severe attack. As Mrs. Rooksby had slept a very great deal during the time she was free from pain, her friends wondered whether she had suffered from “sleeping sickness.” Dr. Greenfield made a post mortem examination, from which he was satisfied that that was not the disease. The doctor certified the cause of death as acute physical brain trouble, there being no organic affection.

Mrs. Rooksby (formerly Miss Woodhams) was a native of Earls Barton. On her marriage about 30 years ago she and her husband came to Rushden to live, Mr. Rooksby having been an employee at Messrs. Jaques and Clark’s factory most of the time. They were very devoted to each other, being practically always together. They had also made numerous fiends. There are no children of the marriage.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at the Cemetery, the Rev. C. J. Keeler officiating.
