Mrs. Sarah Ann Rice

For 41 years a resident at 37, Grove-road, Rushden, Mrs. Ann Rice, a well-known local lady, died suddenly at her home on Tuesday at the age of 78. Mrs. Rice, who was the widow of Mr. Richard Rice, for 33 years a foreman at Messrs John Cave and Sons boot factory, Rushden, and for many years a popular committee-man at the Working Men's Club, had lived in her Grove-road home ever since it was built. Mr. Rice died more than 20 years ago.

Six daughters, all living m the district are bereaved. They are Mesdames E. Bates, L. Lack, H. Knight and G. Maddams (Rushden), and Mesdames G. Harris (Kettering), and R. Pitts (Higham Ferrers).

Mrs. Rice was formerly a worshipper at the St. Mary's Parish Church. The interment will take place this afternoon after a service at the cemetery conducted by the Rector, the Rev. E. A. Green.

Funeral of Mrs. S. A. Rice
The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Ann Rice, of 87, Grove-road, Rushden, whose death was reported last week, took place on Friday afternoon. Aged 78 years, Mrs. Rice was the widow of Mr. Richard Rice.

The service was held at the Cemetery Chapel, and was conducted by the Rector of Rushden, the Rev. E. A. Green, in the presence of the following mourners: Mr. and Mrs. W. Bates, Mr. and Mrs. H. Knight, Mr. and Mrs. S. Pitts, Mr. and Mrs. R. Lack, Mr. and Mrs. W. Harris, and Mr. and Mrs. E. Maddams (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. and Mrs. H. Todd (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Dick Bates and Mr. Ted Rice (grandsons).

The funeral arrangements were curried out by Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin.
