The Death of a well-known character, Johnny Rainbow, has to be recorded. He was seized with a stroke outside the Coffee Tavern on Saturday and never recovered. At one time he was in business for himself in Rushden, but of late years had been greatly reduced in circumstances. On several occasions he was taken to the workhouse but would not remain there.

Note: Aged 66 years, he died at the Workhouse on the 22nd February.
