Mr. William Radburne Passes Away
A Director of The Gas Company
With sincere regret we record the death of Mr. William Radburne, of 151, High-street, Rushden, who passed away on Friday at midnight, aged 89 years. He leaves a widow and one son Mr. John W. Radburne, of Messrs. Radburne and Bennett Ltd., curriers and leather dressers, Victoria-road, Rushden.
For many years Mr. William Radburne was treasurer of the Rushden Liberal Association, which post he relinquished a few years ago, but he was always an ardent Liberal and in the recent election followed the trend of political events with the keenest interest. Until a few years ago deceased was a regular attendant at Succoth Baptist Chapel, but of late years he was unable to attend services through advanced age. Up to the time of his death he was a director in Rushden and Higham Ferrers Gas Co.
The deceased was of a very generous disposition, and liberally responded to the appeals made for worthy objects.
The Funeral
The interment took place on Wednesday at the Rushden cemetery. A brief service was first conducted at the residence of the deceased by the Rev. J. H. Lynn, who also officiated at the cemetery.
The principal mourners were:- Mr. John Radburne (son), Mr. J. Lack (brother-in-law), Mr. J. Bennett, Mr. C. Hebbes (Wilstead), Mr. H. C. Dunham (Bedford), Messrs. W., E., and H. Lack (nephews), Mr. F. White, Mr. G. Lawrence (Wellingborough), Mr. C. Parsons (Irthlingborough), and Mr. E. Brealey.
Among those present were Messrs. Fred Knight, J.P., John Claridge, J.P., C.C., W. Spong, J. S. Mason, J. T. Colson, W. B. Sanders (directors of the Higham Ferrers and Rushden Gas Company), Mr. G. S. Mason (clerk to the Gas Company), Mr. T. Watson (manager of the Gas Company), Messrs. A. T. Chamberlain and W. H. Spicer (from the Gas Company’s office), Mr. B. Vorley and Mr. J. Litchfield (tenants), Mr. and Mrs. J. Sargent, Mr. and Mrs. H. Brawn, Dr. C. R. and Miss Fisher, Mr. T. W. C. Linnitt, Mr. A. Gadsby, Mr. T. Eady, Mr. A. C. Ashby, Mr. William Desborough, and others.
The coffin was of polished oak with brass fittings, the inscription being

Born January 12th, 1822
Died April 28th, 1911
The wreaths bore the following inscriptions:-
