The Rushden Argus January 16th 1920, transcribed by Susan Manton

Mr. Ernest Pridmore

Mons Man’s Death. We deeply regret we have to record the death which took place on Sunday rather suddenly, of Mr. Ernest Pridmore of 150 Queen Street, at the age of 32 years. The deceased was employed as a postman before and after his war service. The deceased had been troubled with his heart since his discharge from the Army in 1915 and was attacked by bronchitis about a fortnight ago. He had to take to his bed and rapidly got worse, passing away on Sunday about 10pm from heart failure. He was an old soldier having joined the Scottish Rifles fifteen years ago. He was called up on the outbreak of war and went through the early battles, including the retreat from Mons. He was wounded on Nov 5th 1914 in the back and contracted bronchitis, which weakened his heart and caused his discharge from the Army on June 28th 1915. Deceased leaves a wife and family of two little girls aged six years and 19 months respectively.  He was a postman at Wymington until three years ago, when he was transferred to Rushden. The funeral took place on Wednesday, conducted by the Rector, the Rev, Percy Robson, at the Rushden Cemetery, where a large number of people assembled to mark their respect and sympathy.
