Rushden Echo & Argus, 2nd July 1937, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr. Harry Perkins

The death occurred at Rushden on Monday of Mr. Harry Perkins, of 88 Higham-road, at the age of 55 years. Mr. Perkins, who had been ill for about six months, was, until recently, a steward at the Rushden Trades Union Club for sixteen years, having been formerly employed as a clicker by the late Mr. James Hyde.

In his younger days he was a promising footballer, playing goal for the now extinct Rushden Red Cross, and afterwards for the Higham Ferrers Institute and Rushden St. Mary’s clubs. He served with the Bedfords during the War, and was drafted to India in 1916 for two years and eight months.

A native of Olney, Bucks, Mr. Perkins had lived in Rushden since a boy, and leaves a widow and no family.

The funeral took place at Higham Ferrers on Wednesday.
