Mrs. Selina Norman

OBITUARY – The death took place last Friday morning at 9, The Orchard, of a well-known resident of the town in the person of Mrs. Selina Norman, aged 60 years.  The deceased lady had been in failing health for some considerable time, but she was able to keep at her work until last Monday week, when she was taken considerably worse and was obliged to take to her bed.  From that time she never rallied, and passed peacefully away on Friday at 2 a.m.  She leaves three sons and one daughter to mourn their loss.  One of the sons, Despatch-rider Harold Norman, was in France, and he was sent for but did not arrive home until two days after his mother’s funeral.  The funeral took place last Monday at the cemetery, the Rev. P. E. Robson officiating.  The coffin, which was of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription:-

SELINA NORMAN
Died June 8th, 1917
Aged 60 years.

The mourners comprised: Mr. and Mrs. H. Darlow (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. H. Norman (daughter-in-law) and Miss May Darlow (grand-daughter), Master Ernest Darlow (grandson), Mr. H. Copsey (friend), Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sugars (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs. W. Robinson and Mrs. J. Davies (nieces), Mr. and Mrs. W. Barnes (nephew and niece), Mrs. E. Sugars (niece) and Mrs. Underwood (friend).  A large number of beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave, including one from the neighbours.  The family desire to express sincere thanks to the many kind friends who sent wreaths and expressed sympathy with them in their bereavement.
