Funeral

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the cemetery of Rose Gertrude Newton Higgins, aged ten years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Higgins, of 59 Duck-street, Rushden. Deceased, who was a very bright and intelligent girl, was a scholar in the Alfred-street mixed school, and was in attendance as recently as Tuesday morning in last week. On returning home at noon she complained of pains in the head. On Wednesday morning a doctor was sent for, and he found that symptoms of inflammation of the brain had developed themselves. Gradually getting weaker, deceased passed away at 11.40 a.m. on Sunday. Deceased was a scholar in the Independent Wesleyan Sunday school, Queen-street. The Rev. C. J. Keeler officiated at the services in the Cemetery Chapel and at the graveside. The mourners were Mr. and Mrs. Higgins (father and mother), Albert, Edgar and Lily (brothers and sister), Miss Archer, Mrs. Clements and Mrs. J. H. George, of Irchester (aunts). A lovely lot of wreaths were placed on the coffin. Mr. and Mrs. Higgins and the family wish to sincerely thank all kind friends for the sympathy shown to them in their sad bereavement and also for the floral tributes.
