Mrs M A Mead, Rushden

Following 3 years of illness, Mrs Millicent Ada Mead, wife of Mr Frederick Mead, of 171, Newton Road, Rushden, passed away on Tuesday, December 28th, at the age of 47 years.

A native of Rushden, Mrs Mead had always been a resident of the town, and up to her breakdown of health was an employee of Messrs Bignells Ltd. She was also a member of the British Legion (Women’s Section). Besides the husband, a son serving in the Royal Navy and one daughter are left.

The funeral took place on Saturday, when a service was conducted at the home by the curate of St Mary’s Church (the Rev. R MacPherson Heard). The mourners were: Mr F Mead (widower), Mrs M Roberts (daughter), Mrs L Helsdown (mother), Mr M Mead (son), Mr B Helsdown (brother), Mr and Mrs Ixer (brother-in-law and sister), Mr and Mrs E Mead (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs B Helsdown (sister-in-law), Mrs H Holyoak (niece), Mr and Mrs C Parker, Mrs T Parker, Mr and Mrs E Loakes and Mrs F Ballard (friends).

Wreaths were inscribed: Your loving husband Fred; The dearest mother in the world, Marjorie, Maurice and Reg; At rest – from Mother; Flo, Harry and Bob – At rest; Brue, Con and family; Else and family, Leeds; Doll and Billy; Hazel; Eddie, Mary, Erica and Cliff – Dearest memories; Deepest sympathies, Mr and Mrs Loakes, Thurza and Tom; Deepest sympathy from Messrs Bignells (closing room); Mrs Ballard and family; Mr and Mrs Ward; Cousin Lil and Mill; Mr and Mrs Bland; Mr and Mrs Holloway and family; British Legion (Women’s Section); Newton Road and Headingly Road neighbours; Loving memories, Bertha, Tom, Phil and Charles and Jimmy.

Messrs Whittington and Tomlin were the undertakers.
