Mr. Seraphim May

Retired Head Gardener Dies

At the age of 83, Mr. Seraphim May died on Tuesday at his home, 4 Rectory Road, Rushden. He had remained quite active until the last few days and was able to go out of doors last week-end.

Born at St. Austell, Cornwall, Mr. May was head gardener and estate agent to several titled people, coming to Rushden from Surrey about 28 years ago, and spending the rest of his life in retirement. He often visited Rushden Hall and joined in the conversations of the "Pensioners" there.

His wife, who was a native of Tilbrook, died two years ago, and three sons and three daughters are bereaved.

The funeral will take place at Rushden.
