Mr. James Marriott, Rushden

Mr. James Marriott, of 44, Allen-road, Rushden, passed away at his home on Monday, aged 78 years. A native of Harpole (near Northampton), Mr. Marriott had been in Rushden for about 50 years, having been a member of the Park-road Methodist Church since his marriage at Harpole. He was a Sunday School teacher at the Methodist Church for many years, and up to the time of his death was a member of the Free Gardeners. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Marriott, five grandchildren (three in Australia), and five great-grandchildren. His two sons died several years ago.

The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon and the service was conducted lit the house of the Methodist minister, the Rev. Frederick John. The mourners were: Mrs. C. E. Marriott and Mr. Reginald Marriott (widow and grandson), Mr. Edward Mann and Mrs. R. Marriott (grandchildren), Mr. S. Manning and Miss S. Manning, Northampton (nephew and niece).

Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin were the undertakers.
