Miss Annie Margetts

FUNERAL—Miss Margetts, whose death we announced in our last week's obituary, was interred near the graves of her parents at the Old Baptist Meeting, in the presence of a large number of young people, on Saturday evening last. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. A. Davis, and was listened to with attention, and the touching allusions made by the minister at the close considerably affected those present. The coffin was borne by six of the junior Sunday School teachers of the Old Meeting, where the deceased was a senior scholar. The mourners were the deceased's only brother and relatives, and about 30 young women who, with the deceased were engaged in the work of the Christian band. The coffin was without pall, the only covering being the beautiful wreaths laid on by the loving hands of relatives and friends. The deceased was a very excellent young woman, and joined the church at the Old Baptist Meeting about twelve months ago. She was a good worker, and was greatly loved by a numerous circle of friends. On Sunday evening last a special sermon was preached by Mr. Davis improving the early death of the deceased. The text, on which was founded an appropriate discourse, was taken from the 39th Psalm, 4th verse, "Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am." The rev. gentleman said that he had a very pleasing conversation with the deceased a short time before she died, when she expressed her confidence that she would soon enter into the presence of the Lord. Suitable hymns were sung and Master G. Fairey officiated on the organ, and at the close of the service played the funeral march. Much sympathy is felt for her brother in his bereavement, he being the only one left of the family.
