Mr. John Tobias Lovell

Obituary—The death occurred at his home at 34 Harborough-road, Rushden, on Friday last, of a well-known former Rushden postman, Mr. John Tobias Lovell. He had been confined to his bed for five days. As a postman he was a familiar figure to many in the town having served for 24 years in that position. He retired about four years ago. Aged 68 years, Mr. Lovell was a native of Hinwick and a resident in Rushden over 40 years. He was also a member if the Working Men’s Club. A widow, Mrs. Martha Ann Lovell, three sons and one daughter are bereaved. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Rushden cemetery. A service was held in the chapel, the Rev. S. S. Black, curate of St. Mary’s Church, officiating. The mourners were: Mrs. J. T. Lovell (widow), Mr. W. G. Lovell (son), and Mr. R. Lovell and Mrs. Whitbread (son and daughter), Mr. A. T. Lovell and Mrs. Faulkner (son and sister), Mrs. Valentine and Mrs. Longhurst (sister and niece), Mrs. W. Lovell and Mrs. R. Lovell (daughters-in-law), Mr. C. Whitehead (son-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. G. Bass and Mr. and Mrs. W. Bass (brother and sisters-in-law), Mrs. Packwood and Mrs. Chettle (sister-in-law and niece), Mrs. Partridge (sister-in-law), Mrs. Short and Miss I. Mould (friends).
