Rushden Echo, 20th April 1917, transcibed by Gill Hollis

Mr. Albert Leach

Sudden Death – The death took place on Tuesday morning unexpectedly of Mr. Albert Leach, aged 37, at 11, South-terrace, Rushden, where he lodged.  Mrs. G. Stokes, of 13, South-terrace, on Tuesday morning went to call Mr. Leach so that he could go and see his doctor, and found that he was dead.  Dr. Owen was sent for, and said that death was due to heart failure.  The Coroner was informed, but an inquest was not considered necessary.  The deceased, who came from London, worked at Raunds until the recent fire there, and then worked for Mr. C. A. K. Green, Rushden.  Since Christmas he had repeatedly complained of chest trouble, believing it was due to indigestion.  The event is made more sad by the fact that at the time of Mr. Leach’s death, his young lady lay ill in the next room, and arrangements had been made for the marriage and postponed owing to Mr. Leach’s illness.  The mother and child are progressing well.  The body of Mr. Leach was taken to London yesterday and buried there.
