Mrs. Elizabeth Langford

OBITUARY – An aged resident of the town passed away on Friday last at 22, Little-street in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Langford, widow of the late Mr. Robert Langford, at the age of 76 years.  The deceased, who was a native of Wellingborough, had resided in Rushden for 29 years, and her husband predeceased her in March, 1915.  For some time past the late Mrs. Langford had been in very poor health, having had two strokes, so that the end came as a happy release.  The funeral took place at the cemetery, the Rev. A. J. Meakin (Vicar of St. Peter’s) conducting the obsequies.  The coffin, which was of polished elm with brass fittings, bore the inscription:

ELIZABETH LANGFORD,
Died August 23rd, 1918.
Aged 76 years.

The mourners were Mr. W. Langford (son) and Mrs. W. Major (daughter), Mr. E. Langford (son) and Mrs. W. Willmott (daughter), Mrs. T. Holman (daughter) and Mr. W. Major (son-in-law), Mrs. E. Langford (daughter-in-law) and Mrs. W. Langford (daughter-in-law), Mr. T. Holman (son-in-law) and Mrs. W. Sanders (friend).  A number of beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave.
