Rushden Echo, 19th April 1929, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr Jonathan Johnson Lack
Well-Known Family Bereaved

His many friends
will have learned with regret of the death on Friday of Mr Jonathan Johnson Lack, of 149 High-street, Rushden. Born at Yardley Hastings 80 years ago, he commenced his work in the cause of Christianity in the village Congregational Church and Sunday school, a work which he again took upon his removal to Rushden. From 1889, the year of his baptism, he put all his energy into the work of the Baptist Church in Rushden. He took a great interest in the activities of the Sunday school, in which he had charge of an infants’ class, and with a record of 40 years teaching was awarded the diploma of the Sunday School Union.

Mr Lack was early asked to take upon himself the duties of a deacon of the Church and some years ago was made a life deacon, a distinction, which upon the death of Mr. David Darnell, he alone held. Mrs J J Lack died five years ago, and four sons, and two daughters survive.

Mr Walter Lack and Mr Herbert Lack are former presidents of the Rushden and District Sunday School Union, and Mr H Lack and Mr E W Lack are deacons of the Park-road Baptist Church.

The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev J A Sutherland (Baptist minister) conducting a short service at the house prior to the interment in the Rushden Cemetery. [a list of mourners, representatives of the Church, and wreaths follows]
