Mr. Lewis Jaques

The death of a well-known resident of the town took place on Sunday, in the person of Mr. Lewis Jaques, aged 68. For very many years the deceased was employed by the Urban Council as grave-digger. He leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters. The funeral took place on Wednesday at the cemetery, the Rev. P. Robson officiating. The coffin, of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription:- LEWIS JAQUES The mourners comprised: Mrs. L. Jaques (widow), Mr. Fred Jaques (son), Mr. A. Jaques (son), Mrs. H. Scroxton (daughter), Mrs. Essam (sister), Mr. R. Freeman (son-in-law), Mrs. A. Jaques and Mrs. F. Jaques (daughters-in-law), Mrs. A. Abbott (sister-in-law), Miss A. Drage (friend), Mrs. T. Jaques (sister-in-law), Mrs. Lenton (niece), Mrs. W. Richardson (niece), and Mr. Albert Jaques (nephew). A number of beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave. Mr. Arthur Sanders was the undertaker. |
