We sincerely regret to record the death, which took place suddenly on Saturday morning, of Mrs. Sarah Ann Hooper, wife of Mr. Robert Hooper, 6, Queens-terrace, Rushden.  The deceased lady, who was 63 years of age, complained of biliousness and sickness last Monday week, but was able to continue her domestic duties until the following Wednesday midday.  On that evening, however, as she was still feeling indisposed, and complained of drowsiness, she was advised to take to her bed, but no developments of a serious nature occurred until last Friday at 8.30 a.m., when she had a seizure, and then lost consciousness, which she never really regained, the end coming peacefully at 11 a.m. last Saturday. The late Mrs. Hooper, who was a native of Harrold, Beds, had resided in Rushden for upwards of 30 years, and was well known throughout the town, having been associated in business with her husband in the High-street for many years.  She leaves a husband, five sons, and one daughter to mourn their loss.  Three of the sons and the daughter are in South Africa.  The funeral took place on Tuesday at the cemetery, the Rev. R. C. Law officiating.  The coffin, of polished elm, with brass fittings, bore the inscription:- SARAH ANN HOOPER Died March 23rd, 1918. Aged 63 years. The mourners were as follow:- Mr. R. Hooper (husband), and Mrs. W. Smedley (sister), Pte. S. Hooper (son) and Miss Edna Bird (grand-daughter).  Mr. W. Hooper (son) and Miss Mary Hooper (sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. T. Hooper (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs. R. Darlow (sister-in-law) and Miss Ada Smith (niece).  A large number of beautiful floral tributes to the memory of the deceased were placed on the grave.  Messrs. Whittington and Tomlin were the undertakers.
